March with Pacem in Memorial Day Parade
Warning: include(Content/Events/Please be part of the Pacem in Terris peace contingent in the Annual Memorial Day Parade on Delaware Avenue on Wednesday, May 30. We will gather at 5:30 p.m. in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Parking lot in order to carpool to the assembly point for the parade. Parking is not easy to find close to the parade route. We will march at the end of the parade which starts at 6 p.m. at Delaware Avenue at Woodlawn Avenue. This year marks the 145th consecutive observance of the traditional Memorial Day, May 30, in Wilmington. The tradition began in 1868, when a group of New Castle County citizens formed a Memorial Day Committee to honor those who died in the Civil War. The parade steps out at 6 p.m., May 30, from Delaware Avenue at Woodlawn Avenue. Participants march east down Delaware Avenue to the Civil War Monument at Broom Street, where we honor the dead of all wars with a memorial service.
