Our Intern philosophy and practice is to provide our Interns with an interesting set of projects that are related to their academic and/or their career objectives. Interns are engaged in developing educational programs, curriculum, fact sheets on critical global issues, websites, games, fundraising and other topics that are of special interest to you. Our Interns do not stuff envelopes, they work on creative peace-related projects.

Detailed Information

Pacem is seeking a part-time strategic communications Intern. The strategic communications Intern will assist with the overall marketing and communications needs of Pacem in Terris.

Position Summary
The Intern's primary responsibility is to assist Pacem’s Executive Director with:

  • Creating a variety of outreach materials for policy advocacy, membership, and fundraising
  • Implementing an organization-wide communications strategy
  • Developing marketing plans for specific programs and activities.

The Internship (15-20 hrs/wk) is unpaid. It will accommodate a flexible schedule, and take place in Wilmington, DE-- or at the student's college or residence.  Preference will be given to candidates that are able to continue the Internship into the coming year.  Pacem in Terris is willing to work with the candidate’s higher education institution for course credit, if applicable.

Pacem is seeking a graphic design Intern:

  • Qualifications
    Required Qualifications:
    Proficiency in basic graphic design skills
    Good writing skills
    Enthusiasm and commitment to the organization’s mission
    Ability manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
    Positive attitude and an ability to engage with a variety of people

Professional workplace experience
Experience using social media tools for organizational outreach

The Internship (15-20 hrs/wk) is unpaid. It will accommodate a flexible schedule, and take place in Wilmington, DE-- or at Intern's college or place of residence.     Good writing skills
    Enthusiasm and commitment to the organization’s mission
    Ability manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
    Positive attitude and an ability to engage with a variety of people

Desired Qualifications:
Some experience with data visualization a plus
Professional workplace experience
Experience using social media tools for organizational outreach

Current Internships

  1. Culture of Peace Internship— Writer

This Internship will be focused on the violence that is plaguing the Wilmington, DE area (7 gun violence deaths already this year, 18 shootings). The Intern will have the task of writing a short bio for every person killed in Wilmington this year. The idea is to turn faceless statistics into human beings. These bios will be shared with the media, posted on numerous websites, published in newsletters and newspapers, shared with churches and other faith-based communities, as well as schools and other groups working with the Movement for a Culture of Peace in the Wilmington Delaware area. There will also be a YouTube video made of the bios.

 

  1. Culture of Peace Internship—Researcher

This Internship will work with Pacem in Terris and other groups on the Wilmington Peace Planand its accompanying Wilmington Peace Resources document. The Intern will have the task of researching and putting together a document that includes organizations throughout our region that are engaged in what we call "building a culture of peace."  This includes resources and information on a wide variety of topics-- from anti-bullying strategies, civic engagement, domestic violence prevention, school to prison changes, financial literacy, and violence, gun violence reduction, gangs and violent street groups, safe havens for youth, juvenile justice system, mental health providers, mentoring, restorative justice, support groups for ex-offenders, service organizations, street level outreach, dating violence, workplace violence prevention and other topics.
