Call for Artwork Visionary Peace 2026

Who: Delaware Youth Grades K-12

Why: For nine years, Pacem’s Arts for Peace program has given Delaware youth the chance to express their visions of peace. All submitted artwork will be on display at the beautiful Wilmington Library. Each year, students share their vision of a peaceful world, reflecting themes of emotional well-being, love, global harmony, unity, and the celebration of diversity at our annual all inclusive Visionary Peace Youth Art Exhibition. By participating, students learn that their opinions matter and that they have a role in shaping the future. These responses demonstrate that peace is something actively created through connection and kindness. While on display, a jury selects the strongest messages of peace. The selected Traveling Peace Youth Art Exhibition artwork is reproduced and curated into collections which are displayed at over 28 locations, annually, reaching more than 200,000 viewers a year. The artwork will bring peace and joy to high visibility locations including Nemours Hospital for Children, The Grand, Philadelphia Airport, Delaware Courthouses and Social Service Centers.

How: Answer the questions, “What is your vision of a peaceful world? or “How can we create a more peaceful world together?” The artwork should be colorful with little or no white background and unique. The artwork should highlight only positive images of peace (no guns, bombs, or violence) which can be triggering for students directly impacted by violence.

Requirements: 2D, original artwork (paintings, photographs, digital designs) along with artwork descriptions, properly mounted.

The artwork must be 2D (two-dimensional) on paper, canvas or lightweight cardstock. 2D artwork makes transport easier and keeps the artwork safe. 3D is difficult to transport and hang and more likely to get damaged (or damage other artwork).

The artwork must be original in concept and design.

Please have your students mount their artwork with a short 2-3 sentence (50 word max) statement handwritten (elementary) or typed (middle and high school) on the front of a 16” x 20” construction paper or smaller. In other words, the total footprint (including artist statement) of the 2D submission must be 16” x 20” or smaller so there’s enough room to hang all the students’ artwork.

Lightweight mats will be accepted if the statement is included on the front of the mat within the size requirement. And, if possible please label the back of the construction paper/mount with the names of the student and the school.

Limit: Each teacher may submit up to 15 pieces of artwork.

Miscellaneous: By submitting your students’ artwork to the Visionary Peace Youth Art Exhibition, your students’ artwork will be considered for the Pacem in Terris Traveling Peace Youth Art Exhibition. Selected artwork will be photographed and reproductions will be produced.

Deadline: The deadline for submitting artwork is December 15, 2025.
