Start the New Year by studying nonviolence. New workshops begin January 17. Register today.
We’re planning a considerable expansion of our nonviolence education program in 2021.
Although it would be great to meet in person, holding the workshops online has clearly increased the number of folks we are reaching. So we think we’ll be continuing distance learning for some time to come.
In January, we will offer a full range of classes — all three parts of the book at once.
Ideally we will start two new Part I groups. And there are a good number of folks who have completed Part I who did not go on to Part II in October. We should be able to form a Part II workshop from this cohort. And we believe that up to 20 current Part II people will move on to Part III in January.
[Note that participants must complete each part in order to move to the next section. The Part I workshop requires the purchase of the workbook Engaging Nonviolence: Activating Nonviolent Change in Ourselves and Our World. ($25 from Nonviolent Wilmington or from Pace e Bene Press). Subsequent workshops are free, using the same book.]
Here’s the proposed schedule.
Part I – Exploring Nonviolent Power
Six weekly 2-hour sessions
Sundays or Wednesdays, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Starts Jan. 17 or 20 — Ends Feb. 21 or 24
Part II – Nonviolence in Practice
Five weekly 2-hour sessions
Wednesdays only, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Starts Jan. 20 – Ends Feb. 10
Part III – Planning and Strategy
Four weekly 2-hour sessions
Sundays, time to be determined by participants
Jan. 17, 24, 31; Feb. 7
Note: Part III will be culminate in a creative nonviolent action project designed by participants and coordinated by Nonviolent Wilmington, which may extend beyond the conclusion of the workshop. Participation in this project is optional for Part III workshop participants.
