2021 “Engaging Nonviolence” Study Groups

WE’VE BEEN THINKING AHEAD TO 2021

Nonviolent Wilmington currently has a good-sized cohort working through Part II of “Engaging Nonviolence.” In all, there are 20 of us studying Nonviolence in Practice—10 in each group. Thanks to group facilitators George and Alice (Sunday) and Judy and Melissa (Wednesday) for continuing the work. There’s a sense that all participants are eager and engaged in this new part of the curriculum.

We’re planning a considerable expansion of our nonviolence education program in 2021.

Although it would be great to meet in person, holding the workshops online has clearly increased the number of folks we are reaching. So we think we’ll be continuing distance learning for some time to come.

In January, we will offer a full range of classes — all three parts of the book at once.

Ideally we will start two new Part I groups. And there are a good number of folks who have completed Part I who did not go on to Part II in October. We should be able to form a Part II workshop from this cohort. And we believe that up to 20 current Part II people will move on to Part III in January.

Note that students must complete each part in order to move onto the next section. The beginning workshop requires the purchase of the workbook Engaging Nonviolence: Activating Nonviolent Change in Ourselves and Our World. ($25 from Nonviolent Wilmington or from Pace e Bene Press). Subsequent workshops are free, using the same book.

Here’s the proposed schedule.

Part I – Exploring Nonviolent Power

Sunday or Wednesday, 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Starts Jan. 10 / 13 — Ends Feb. 14 / 17
